Highlighted hair problems!!!! PLEASE HELP!??

I highlight my hair once every three months or there abouts, and it's like I have two layers - the top layer, where most of the highlights are, is soft, sleek and shiny, and the bottom layer, underneath, is dry, straw-like, 'crunchy', and frazzled. My natural colour is a 'mousy' brown and the highlights are blondish. I use Dove shampoo and Cond for highlighted hair. Is it the highlights that are affecting my hair? Or do I just need my split ends trimmed? Should I hold off on the highlights? Please help. I'm 14 and have been getting highlights for two years; this prob only began this year.

If this problem just started it's probably not the highlights that are causing it. Just to be safe though, maybe try holding off on the highlights and see if anything changes. If you don't want to do that I recommend a hot oil treatment for color-treated hair (make SURE it's for color-treated hair though or it will ruin your color!).

Why did you start colouring your hair at 12?

You brought yourself to this ruin.

get your hair cut short, stop coloring it, and wait till all your highlights have grown out and been cut off, then acess the condition of your hair, if its not dry and crunchy then dont use color again, or you can go to a beauty salon and ask them, but it will cost you.

dont listen to the people yelling at you for getting highlights at 12. u just wanted to look good, no sweat, but about that hair, call your salon RIGHT NOW and ask about it, they won't charge you unless they actually do something to your hair, hopefully they'll name some sort of product u can use that will help.

Maybe this year your hair has finally reached a stage wherein it's reacting to what you do with it. Like any other part of your body, your hair will change. Maybe you over-blowdry it nowadays, or there is an ingredient in the shampoo that is affecting your hairgrowth hormones. But I place my bet on the highlights. Have you began highlighting your hair in different salons or on the different parts of your head? If you self-highlight, did you switch products? Did the company add any new ingredients that your hair is sensitive to? I think you should stop highlighting your hair and love what you were born with. It was hard for me too, but now I'm embracing my natural hair.

Your under layer is fried gf, you can mend this by getting a condtioner made by bed head called dumb blonde. Follow that directions on the back of the bottle..... You leave it in longer because your hair is fried.

Plus, you never know what a little trim could do, may work wonders!

I honestly think you should lay off on the high lights and start getting regular trims. Let the high lights grow out. Seriously.

First stop doing highlights your hair, if you still want it do it at least every 6 months, cut your hair very often to get rid of the "bad" hair, is burn and nothing will fix it. Stop using Dove products, they are not good enough for hair. Try Vive from Loreal for highlights or John Frieda. They are excellent for hair processed. buy a good conditioner with moisturizers, try to give treatments to your hair and good luck. The best thing about hair is never stop growing! so you can keep changing styles, colors and more.
